Opps, I forgot your last question. I have not seen any failures as a result
of oil breakdown. Not that they can and do happen, it just seems other oil
related failures occur before that. I can not speak for Yamaha. My experience
and observation has been is that oil related failures are more maintenance
related. Either running low oil levels or dirty oil. We do have some people
with petroleum engineering experience on the list so they may contribute here
also. I comment not as an engineer, but as a motorcycle technician. I know
you are going to use what you want to use for oils, my only reccomendation if
you choose not to use Yamalube is use a good brand of oil and keep it clean.
Also, do not scrimp on the oil filters. The stock filters are worth it when
considering they are protecting your investment.
