Seems like the path to the GTS from the FJ is a well trodden one.
I still have my FJ, but since it no longer has rear pegs and my wife wanted
to go touring again, another bike had to be found.
I considered the FJR1300, but rear legroom is restricted by the large
upswept exhausts. I remembered the GTS and mailed John 'Hawke' Laureneson
for his opinions. He too had recently took to the GTS after many miles on
the FJ.
John's words were encouraging. He kindly got the tape measure out and found
that the GTS has a further 4" of rear pillion legroom than the FJ. This
being due to GTS's long, long seat.
Anyhow tracked one down, road tested it and loved it. Can't comment too much
on the reliability issues you mention as I've only had mine six weeks or so.
What I can say is the ride is superb. I enjoy every minute spent on it and
the feeling of being one of a 'select few' is not to be underestimated !
Get your leg over one mate !
