I sometimes get a TDM850 as a loan bike when my GTS is in for service. They
are excellent bikes, very comfy and easy to ride. The gearbox is a bit
clunky, but the engine is great fun.
I have seen a number of newby riders take on this bike, since its a better
insurance bet than a new CBR600 for example, and nobody wants to nick it!
Also the TDM offers very good pillion accommodation, its no gold wing chair
but better than most.
If I was starting as a newby again I would buy a TDM850, or maybe the TRX
sporting derivative.
