I owned a TDM850. Of all the bikes I've purchased in the last eight years,
it's the only one I sold. In other words, I wasn't impressed. I have a Honda
TransAlp and thought the TDM would be similar but have more power. The
TransAlp has less power, but is superior in just about every other way. The
TDM vibrates a bit and is just "okay" at any task, not terrific at anything.

That was the worst part. It has an 18-inch front wheel. Try and get offroad
tires. Ha! It takes the same size tires as my ST1100, not exactly a
motocrosser. Some guys have put rear tires on the front, but not something I
like to do for a bike I'd take on the street at speed.
Overall, it wasn't a terrible bike. But I've got a garage full of bikes that,
no matter which one I take, I feel like it's the best of the bunch. The TDM
never gave me that feeling. And so it's gone.
