Yep. If at all possible, get a ceramic or "heavy duty" socket, with
high-temperature wire. Leave as much of the high-temp wire on the socket as
possible, up to about 4~6 inches before crimping it to the existing wire.

If you're running a high wattage headlamp, you'll probably have trouble sooner
or later with a melted socket or damaged wiring....

It's good to prepare for this in advance, and crimping on a heavy duty H4
socket (with longer wire) makes changing bulbs slightly easier. If you're
comfortable with it, you're better off with a good crimp rather than some kind
of removable connector, to reduce voltage loss to the lamp.
