Certainly I found New York City very different to Chappaqua..
IMHO the thing that makes travel special is when locals show you around.
We've always found Bed & Breakfast accommodation the way to go in Europe,
and certainly you'll get to know Australia better using those. Inevitably,
Cities are hustle and bustle as that's where the REAL work is done (!!).
People in country areas have more time.
I believe Sydney and Brisbane are still very genuinely tourist friendly.
The place to tell is in the supermarket checkouts!Regards,
