That particular component has what looks like a EPROM chip set in the middle
of a glass
square, but it has only 2-4 leads to the circuit board, which is way too few
for a chip.
It has a very light bracket holding it in place.  No heat sink.  Best I
could figure was
that it was a very small relay.  Also no typical chip markings.

On the other side, there are a bunch of small transformers/capacitors on
heat sinks.

I wish I had taken a picture of that unkown component so I could show it
around work to figure out what it was.....
