My thanks to everyone on the list who has ever offered advice on
eliminating the dreaded surge. I would like to report that the surge is
GONE! What what the cure you ask? New ECU? Nope. Setting the Mixtures
Screws? Nope. Setting the TPS to .59k omhs? Yes!
I had previously check the range of the TPS when I had it off the bike and
all checked out perfectly. When I reinstalled the TPS I set it at the ECU
to a value of .625 volts by measuring across the VTA terminal. Well, I got
to thinking about my situation and decided to check the TPS at the
connector. It's supposed to read between .39k ohms and .59k ohms. Well it
checked out at .45k ohms, right in the middle of the range. So I decided to
turn it down to .39k ohms and give the throttle a little twist. It sounded
like #@*#. So I arbritrarily turned it the opposite direction and before
measuring the resistance I gave the throttle a twist. It was too good to be
true. It sounded great. I checked the resistance and it measured .59k
ohms. I took it for a ride and just couldn't believe the difference. I
confirmed that I wasn't dreaming this morning.... I had a great ride into
work and I can say without a doubt that the surging is GONE!!!!!!
