Kevin, A bit giddy today are we?
Thor, please forgive him. The only reason Kevin even mentions which color is fast or slow is because he knows, deep in his heart, that the red bikes are really the fastest and he's still trying to make amends for his unfortunate choice to change to "plastic blue" (or is that "blue plastic"?). ; ) Jeff B. -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Hawkins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2001 5:37 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Virgin GTS1000 Owner....HI! Thor...damned if that isn't a "kick-ass" name! Okay, we accept you into our little family! :^) I believe that the ABS HU replace is a one time deal, but I don't think anyone has had two fail on them so we're not sure how Yamaha would react to a second failure. I've got the procedures on my website to rebuild a failing HU, so it's no big deal either way. Yes, immediately repaint your bike from that "Oh, so slow red" to anything blue or purplish!! The '94s were much faster bikes! Hell, just changing the plastic on mine made for huge improvements! :^) P.S-I have a '93 with '94 plastic. Hi MOM, Hi DAD??? Who's yo DADDY!?!?!? :^) Kevin Hawkins // Greensboro, NC [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.freecfm.com/r/raddboy Y2K Kawasaki ZRX1100 //'93 Yamaha GTS1000 //'85 FZ750 Thanks for all the advice everyone. I am fairly sure that the ABS is working already, the owner had mentioned it before I test rode it. But I will double check on Friday when I pick up the bike. If the ABS unit is out, or does go out....does Yamaha cover it for the lifetime of the cycle? Or is it only a 10yr policy? I am really thinking of repainting, I know that the deep red is beautiful, But in the future I had a dream of a Eggplant Violet-Iridescent Royal Blue. I saw this paint job at the Tri-State Auto show years ago. You start off with a base of deep violet, then on top of that you add 10 coats of a nearly transperant candy-blue. The additive color is amazing...like you could reach your hand 1-2 feet into the color. Plus, in low light you have a deep violet bike, in strong sun, it has a blue iridescence on its highlights.....OK Back on Track....IF I do decide to paint....can you purchase the OE decals for the bodywork? PS....why do I have the feeling that I have been adopted by some sort of biker MAFIA...a family member with far reaching ties..... I guess a bike this RARE, and UNIQUE...demands rare and unique individuals...AS you can tell, no Im not biased in my purchase, just like everyone else. HI MOM, HI DAD! Best Regards, and eagerly awaiting friday. Thor Metzinger
