In case many of you have never ridden the roads in WV, let me explain what you're missing. Senator Robert Byrd (of WV) is the chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. Year after year after year, the state of WV receives a disproportionate amount of highway funds and it shows! The roads in WV are beautifully paved, incredibly curvey and awesomely scenic! Approaching EVERY turn on the road you will see a "Safe Speed XX" sign that gives you a perfect idea of just how tight the upcoming turn is going to be. The only way you are caught by surprise is if you're not paying attention. The overall itinerary is to ride, eat, ride, gas, ride, eat, sleep, repeat! :^) Actually, our only fixed itinerary is to meet at Brandywine, WV at around noon on Sat. Oct. 6th and ride as a group the rest of the day. We end up at the top of Snow Shoe mountain around 6:00pm and call it a night. The next morning we ride off as a group and stop for breakfast at the Frontier restaurant near Marlinton, WV. The rest of the day is spent riding whatever beautiful roads we come upon. We call it a day again around 6:00 pm at the top of the mountain. The next morning we all ride to Watoga State Park for breakfast and usually split up from there to go towards our respective homes. We do this tour 3 times a year; Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend. It's been going on for 22 years now and has become quite a tradition.
