At a liter per 1000kms it gets very annoying. Makes you feel like hooking
up an intravenous oil feed directly to the engine. I know, mine started to
go through oil like that on my last long trip after switching to Mobil 1
15w-50. I haven't switched back yet to the Castrol Syntec 5w-50 which I've
used since break in, but I'm hoping when I do it will return to me with the
same reduced consumption characteristics it had before.

Shortly before I put the bike away for the winter I added about 1/2 liter of
diesel engine 10w-40 oil to the bike to help increase it's detergent
strength. I won't know of any benefits until next year, however to really
see if this works I should run the diesel oil 100% for a short time and then
switch back to Mobil 1.

I did this already, three years ago, with my GTS 95 and I have got the same
problem again.
The oil consumtion on my GTS was 1liter on 1000km and now 250CC on 1000km.
