I found that the sloppier I am with the clutch, the more it makes noise, however, I always ran Golden Spectro 20/50 and it made wonders in the FJ1200 for the shifting and also seems to be good in the GTS although I didn't run it for long with whatever oil was in before (which I *think* was motul which is great too).
Try altering the clutch action (the way YOU engage it) if I pull it in all the way THEN shift, it is smoother than a quick shift while the clutch is not quite fully engaged.
