European GTS primary IDs started with 4BH, as opposed to 4hh for us, cdn, aus
and nz bikes.

BTW
Primary ID's in Yamaha talk is the 4th, 5th and 6th digit of the VIN on older
bikes, plus the last six digits of the VIN. thus the JYA4HHE0*RA003101 VIN
number is Primary ID 4HH-003101. Yamaha tracks all info based on Primary IDs,
and uses the VIN only to meet DOT requirements. Also, the 10th character is a
universal code in motorcycle VIN to ID the year of the bike. Interestingly
enough, I checked the VIN on my brother in law's GTS and his 10th character
was a P and not an R. I am guessing the service manual is using 94 model VINs
as an example, the date of manufacture on his GTS is 01/93. If anyone is
interested in the chart that lists the letter designation in the VIN for
model year, I will be happy to get it and post it. (BUT IT WILL BE IN ALL
CAPS BECAUSE I WILL BE SENDING FROM WORK, :) )
