That reminds me of many years ago, with my 500cc Vincent Comet, in England. It was Winter, and I'd just put a grease nipple into the throttle cable, to smooth the huge (!) power flow, and pumped in the grease. That Sunday, with frost around, I had to ride back to my lodgings, and I thought I'd give here a bit of a burst to clear the plug, in 2nd gear (probably good for 55 mph). Horror of horrors, the throttle stuck, with frozen grease, wide open! The thoughts flashed through my head...do I pull in the clutch, and blow up the motor...do I try and brake on the icy surface and crash..or what else do I do (no, it had no cut out, or ignition..just a hand over the carb inlet to stop it!) Fortunately it unfroze itself almost immediately, but the fear and memory still remain 40 years later! Hope youse all 'ave a grouse New Year, cobbers! Best wishes from down under, where bush fires are right up into the North Shore of Sydney, and all over the State, and 1000's are being moved out of their homes, this is the 10th day, and forecast to be the worst yet........200 homes lost. We're ok here. Nature can be cruel. Regards, Rob Chapman
