Blast from the past...... I'll add a few comments on the topic of the Dual Bulb Head lamp since I'm sitting here holding one. I bought it from David Jerome, Scotland....who advertised it and other GTS parts on the list quite awhile back. It is brand new and I paid $90 for it. It is identical in size and shape to the stock single reflector GTS unit so it fits as a direct replacement. It is of the same basic design and material of construction, so I can see why it wouldn't hold up equally as well as the single reflector.
The dual reflectors are set so the about 2/3 rds of the space on the left side(facing the bike) is for the H4 low beam bulb and the other 1/3 rd is for a 55 watt H3 bulb. The larger H4 reflector also has an internal central shield to distribute light from the bulb back onto the back reflector. I presently use a low beam HID with an internal shield in the single reflector on the bike. It is the Baja design bought with the Warchild group purchase. I love it. It lights up the world and make driving much safer. As I stated one other time on the list, surprisingly, the single HID lights up much further down the road than the 90/100 watt PIAA H4 I was using and it doesn't seem to bother on coming traffic at all. I got more dim the light flashing from on coming traffic with the conventional high wattage dual filament H4 than I do with the HID. When you pull up on slower cars the beam is shielded in such away that it doesn't reflect back in their review mirror, but you are obviously lighting up the path even in front of the car with the HID. I plan on installing the dual reflector and putting the HID in the H4 side and a PIAA 90 watt H3 in the high beam for an extra boost of light for highway and back road driving. It is will also be a great installed backup headlight to the HID. I'll let everyone know how well it works and if the light reflection pattern is much different with the smaller reflector on the HID bulb. To anyone on the list talking against the HID...you don't know what you are talking about. Try it before you throw stones. You see much better with HID and as important traffic sees you much better. It is a great upgrade to the GTS or any bike. Hawke > Subject: Dual Bulb Headlamps > > How about a group buy on the European dual > bulb headlamps?
