Hi Mike,

How are you doing?
About the break thing, here is my experience;
In the euro headlight unit there is a "tinny reflector thingie" in front
of the
left H4 bulb.
Looks like the middle of a radar or satellite dish.
I don't know why it is there, the top of the H4 bulb is already black so
what
must it reflect anyway?
That thingie breaks due the vibrations of the bike and then you get some

scratches on the back reflector.
Scratches because of the free movement in the unit before you detect the
problem
or by removing that $#&*! thingie throughout the bulb hole (it's larger
then the
hole, so you have to deform/cut it to get it out of the unit). Because
of bad
experience with a FJ1200 headlight unit operation (patient died), I did
not try
to remove the probably glued glass.

May be it is a sidecar related thing, because of the more vibrations
those
outfits creates due stiffer suspension, and the two cases I now about,
are both
GTS bikes with sidecars.
When riding at night you can detect the problem very easily because the
reflection of the light looks like your unit is filled with water and a
gold
fish.
Without the "tinny reflector thingie" I have not noticed a different
light
pattern on the road.

Ride safe,
