I don't think Kawasaki uses the GPZ letters anymore, and the first GPZ
was a four cylinder 550 that came out in the early 80s. I owned a 1990
EX500 for a couple of years, a fun little bike, I even did some 2-up
touring on it. I have never ridden the GS500, but I understand that it
is down considerably on power from the EX500. While the EX500 has been
around in various guises for a long time, always as a parallel twin, the
ORIGINAL Kawasaki 500, The H-1 Mach III, from about 1970, was a
two-stroke triple.
