Here we go... If you feel the need, the need for speed (great "Top-Gun" line), here are some ways of avoiding that insurance surcharge or in some states, jail. The radar used by police is based on reflection. So if you happen to be passing a tractor-trailer when the beam is activated, the radar unit most likely will picked up the TT. The other way to avoid it is, get a stealthy machine... I believe there's a sale on them for about 200 million dollars a bird... Of course there is much more involved in tracking speed, i.e.; sight, sound and reading on the radar unit. It is a machine and as well as it may function, it can be adversely effected by design flaws and human error.
I wouldn't recommend asking an officer for the serial #'s or model of the radar unit. Some will politely tell you to get a "mouth-piece" (lawyer), or words to that effect. Your attorney well request "Discovery" and subsequently obtain the radar's certificates and so on... If ya gotta run, find a track or as we say on the "Job", if ya play, ya gotta pay...
