moose, a member of the HSTA, is about 300#, must be over 6ft, pulls a
trailer and uses a VFR750. you could put on GIVI bags for touring. should
find one fairly cheap since the VFR850 came out.

Phil brings up a good point.  Please don't take this wrong but I would never
have considered starting out with a 1000cc bike as my first bike, regardless
of personal size and weight.  As much as I enjoy the power of 1000cc and
greater bikes I know full well that this power is both intoxicating and
dangerous; it gets you OUT of the danger's path quickly but can also get you
INTO danger's path quickly.  That's my .02.

That's certainly low mileage, but 9K sounds like too much.  Heck, if you
want
to spend that kind of money, I'll sell my 93 with 35K miles and Krauser bags
for less than 9K.

Bike is a bit for a beginner, but as large as you are you should be OK.  It
can
be hefty in a parking lot though.
