Hi Dave

I've actually replaced two mirrors on my '93 GTS.........it was not
easy.......I bruised a rib
The first time such was the force I had to use to get the thing off and just
as hard to put on.
It looks so easy in the Manual. The mirror mounts onto an aluminum plate
with three male "arrow head" shaped lugs in a triangular shape, the mirror
has three corresponding female lugs, the compression/retention is provided
by a circular spring on each lug, boy are these hard to stretch. I tried
everything like Heat-hot water- WD40, cooling the male lugs etc etc. The
lugs and springs on the mirror may stretch once you finally get them off and
some other little bits might brake as well, this will result in the mirror
being a bit floppy if you put the same one back on the fairing. Be ready to
replace them ..about STG46 each......I'm at work now and then I'm off till
the weekend, I'll take a look at the old ones just to refresh my grey matter
And I'll e-mail you again at the weekend

Hope this is of some help

Hi,

Does anyone know how to take apart the mirrors without breaking the glass?

I wish to paint the shell.

Regards,

David
