Well, you know that one day....its going to happen. That someone who has never read the driver's manual is going to do something, somewhere, to nearly kill you, or at least bend you a little.
I was downtown, less than 2 blocks from my work, riding along in the left lane, when a car decided to turn left infront of me (rider's worst nightmare). I would say that is was maybe 35-40 feet in front of me. To make things worse, the driver of the car, freaks out when she realizes what she has done, and being a further idiot, PROCEEDS to make a FULL STOP, in my lane, oncoming traffic in her direction (no chance of escape.) I yell (insert any usable profanity) and pound down on both front and rear brakes, The bike responds instantly, both ABS kick in, the bike squats down, centered below the seat. I come to a stop less than 6" from her rear passenger door. My bike stalls out (panic stop in 3rd gear).... So I proceeded to follow her into the parking lot she was pulling into. She gets out of her car, and says....I am so sorry.... (that just pissed me off) She could have admitted that she was a *$$@#!#!!!, So I informed her that she nearly killed me, and that she should go back and read the $#@$#!$!@! book. A VERY CLOSE CALL, 2 seconds earlier and my bike would have hit her front end.....THANK GOD I BOUGHT THE GTS, I love my ABS!.... My father always told me..."never trust anyone when you are on your bike" DAMN STRAIT!
