Hmmmm - I can see what your saying, but I think there's another side to
this.
It seems to me that we would be gaining an exhaust manufacturer with an
exact pattern for the GTS. Our choices at the moment seem to be
a) use OEM - well over twice the cost of this;
b) get FZR or YZF parts and fiddle and weld. If you have the skills and
tools, you'd probably go for this (but from the archives it seems that
maybe only 2 or 3 have). I don't have these skills, so I'd have the cost
of parts, plus pay someone to do the job, and I don't think the price
would be much different.

If there's no group buy, I'll come out of it OK, because Renegade will
make my exhaust as a one-off, so I get the benefit of their time for less
than the cost (about a week's work). There'll be no pattern, and if a GTS
turned up the following month Jorge will probably say 'f*** off' (he's a
nice guy but a business man, too!). I don't think there's any discount in
it for me for getting the group buy, and I lose my bike for a week (I use
it daily).

So the 'discount' to me appears to be invested in the pattern.
Then there's the associated benefits of after-markent exhausts - more
power, choice of end cans, etc.

I got caught out by the collector (cat) going. If I'd realised it's
vulnerability I think I would have been checking it over the past 2 years
of ownership, and maybe done more to try and preserve its' life. Have you
checked your's out? How much life is left? How long do you want to keep
the bike for? Do you want to pay 900 GBP (1 x more than the whole
Renegade system) for a new one?

It seems to me that there's a good case for this one. I suppose that a
lot might depend on how long you want to keep the bike - but so many of us
seem to want to, that there needs to be some long-term thinking about
parts like this.
That's how I see it, anyway!
