My finding is in line with yours Brandon.

I have learned to adjust my thinking since, there appears to be little that
can be done, less than a possible major over haul and piston ring mod, and
that isn't even a guarantee. Or to do what Dave does and carry a squeeze
bottle tubed down to the fill cap.

It may be a problem with the line between the air box and engine allowing
the oil that is churned up at high engine speeds into a mist to be carried
over, like you said. One possible mod may be to shove some steel wool or
plastic fiber into the tubing, or at the outlet into the airbox, so that the
oil fumes can coalesce on it and run back into the engine.

For now, I look at the oil consumption differently. I say to myself as I am
adding a half quart of oil. This is good; I tell myself being able add
fresh clean new oil with the old oil only improves the lubrication and
extends the engine life.....:>)

How's that for looking at the glass as half full, instead of half empty.

It is a pain in the ass but not the end of the world. Every second or third
fuel stop I top off the oil. It only takes a minute to add the oil when
gassing up. The biggest pain remembering to do it and finding a place to
carry a quart of oil that doesn't end up making a mess. I found a quick
pour /shut off cap for the quart oil bottle at Wally World that makes
filling quick and easy.
