The pithy ruminations from rkvs on
<Re: What About The FZ1?> were:
=> It's probably 10 mph faster (even more than that if it was red, John ;^))
I can tell you that the FZ1 is more than 10MPH faster than the GTS. My parrot*
has been riding recently with someone who's got a beautiful silver FZ1... My
parrot was doing a sustained indicated 220kph, and the bike was still pulling.
The guy on the FZ1 was moving faster enough that he was literally out of sight
of my parrot...he says the speedo indicated 240kph. He claims that the FZ1 tops
out at almost 260KPH. More to the point, it's a really pretty bike!
My parrot could probably have squeezed another few [MK]ph out of the faster blue
GTS, but it was already at about 9K RPM. If you remove the mirrors and run the
engine up higher, I think you'd get about an indicated 140MPH out of the GTS,
but very little more.
* I'd never condone riding at these speeds, not even on a clear European
highway. However, my parrot has a touch of squid in him, I guess...

=> although I've not taken the FZ1 out for a top speed run. It is much quicker
=> and yes, the front wheel will get off the ground pretty easily, although not
=> as easy as my Super Hawk did. It is a great bike to hop on to run errands
=> and it's really fun on twisty roads. And it's a good all day bike or two or
=> three day at a time bike. I took it down to Gerlachfest last September. On
=> the way home I detoured through Reno for 700+ miles in a smidge over 10
=> hours.
=>
=> The lights are really good. I have an HID and 4 PIAA's on the '93 GTS, and
=> the FZ1 headlights are almost as good.
=>
=> I've thought seriously about turning it into a rally bike, but since I have
=> an FJR coming in a couple of weeks I'll make you a killer deal. :^)
=> Actually, I'd love to keep the bike, but my wife thinks 4 bikes is a bit
=> much and she's probably right.
=>
=> I think the FZ1 is a bike you'd end up riding a lot.
