Joe - you raise a very good point which I hadn't considered. The rear on my Vmax definitely was NOT ventilated; anyone with an FJ care to comment? I guess the question becomes this: Is there any compelling reason I SHOULDN'T use a rotor from an FJ or Vmax. I don't have a problem spending $150 for a new rotor if there's a good reason to do so, but if I can solve the problem for $10 I'm willing to live with having an oddball part on my bike.
