Joe - you raise a very good point which I hadn't considered. The rear on my
Vmax definitely was NOT ventilated; anyone with an FJ care to comment? I
guess the question becomes this: Is there any compelling reason I SHOULDN'T
use a rotor from an FJ or Vmax. I don't have a problem spending $150 for a
new rotor if there's a good reason to do so, but if I can solve the problem
for $10 I'm willing to live with having an oddball part on my bike.

Doug, Could it be because its a ventilated disc? Do any other Yamahas (or
any bikes for that matter) use a ventilated disc?

Joe.

Subject: Rear Rotor - Common or unique?

Hey gang -

I'm looking at replacing my rear brake rotor. In checking the EBC brake
application data, their part number for the rear rotor is not used on any
other Yamahas. This strikes me as somewhat odd since the caliper and pads
are common to a variety of other Yamahas. Anyone have any idea why ours
might be an odd duck? My thought was to go down to the local boneyard and
pick one up from a Vmax or an FJ, but I'm now uncertain if that's a good
idea or not.

I solicit your (hopefully informed) opinions.

BTW, I'm still looking for the PureOne oil filter number for the GTS.
