I can only echp the previous sentiments.

As a previous owner of a '90 ST1100 (which I totalled after a 140 kph getoff in
Vermont), I can easily state that the GTS is the best bike I have owned out of the
previous dozen I have had. In comparison to the first generation ST, the GTS handles
MUCH better and feels much more comfortable in the twisties going fast. The only
thing I miss are the hard bags. Pretty much the same conclusions I have read in the
motorcycle mags comparing the new ST1300 against the FJR1300. It is simply a matter
of Yamaha's focus versus Honda's.

Getting back to the GTS, I rode it from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Saint John, New
Brunswick via the US of A ('cause hwy #9 in Maine, aka the Airliner is one of my
favorite pieces of curvy pavement) last Tuesday non-stop. 1503 kms in 14.5 hours.
Aftermarket saddle is a must (I have a Corbin) and one of these days I am going to
install a throttle lock to relieve the wrist pressure on long slow straights. Other
than SS brake lines, my GTS is stock. I did the return trip yesterday in 14 hours.
No regrets.

Hope this helps.

Brian (goin' out to scrape off the bugs) Pitman
