Well, its NOT me. I have always required wheel weights, and I have probably had more problems balancing a tire that any other lister.
One time I had to have the same tire rebalanced 4 times before they got it right. Of course, after all that experience, I must be the US expert on tire balancing !! :) How to do it at a tire shop ? 1) Try to take it to a good auto shop (front wheel only), as they seem to be better at it that car guys. 2) Talk to the manager and get the best guy there 3) Make sure that the concave side of the wheel is TOWARDS the machine (this is true for bike balancers too). This is the most common error, and will lead to perfect balance readings on the machine, but a disaster on the bike. 4) If you cannot use Yamaha weights, 1993 Mazda RX-7 weights are are very close second. Yamaha weights are very very expensive, around $6-10 US each, vs. almost free at most tire stores. Make sure they are good coated weights too, or your rim might get corrosion. Most good tire stores (Goodyear company stores come to mind) have a chart that tells what weights fit what vehicles. 5) Make sure the dot on the tire lines up with the valve stem. I am pretty sure that the dot means the lightest part of the tire, which compensates for the extra weight of the valve stem. -----Original Message----- From: Spee-dee-D [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, August 09, 2002 8:56 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Is it just me? Me too! First time running Bridgestone's for me this year after Pirelli's and Avon's. I also noticed they required wheel weights while my Azaro's didn't. But the 020 is very well priced.
