At first it looked like it was leaking from the bottom bolt of the water pump cover(the drain bolt is to the left of the bottom bolt). While on the road I removed the cover and inspected the o-ring which looked fine. I put it back together with some extra sealer crap. As soon as I started the bike it was dripping coolent from the same location. Took it to the Yamaha dealer in Lewiston ( I had grabbed a hotel room a block down the street from them). They made a couple attempts at stopping the leak but were unable to achieve success. Their opinion was that the coolent was getting passed the mechanical seal then driping out some hole that can't be seen unless you remove the whole pump assembly, then running down the back of the pump assembly to drip from where the bottom bolt is. Making it appear that it was coming from the cover seal when in fact it was not. My next plan of action is to replace the whole shaft assembly and all the seals. I was just gonna do the seals, but the parts are cheap, so why not go all new. Water pump seal installer tool: YU-94051-1 / 90890-04058 (( Will have to call Kent Moore to get pricing, will get back to you on these ))) YM-33221 / 90890-04078 Was told that YU-94051-1/ 90890-04058 is an invalid number. YM-33221 / 90890-04078 retails for $38.00. As you can see I'm having a problem with the mechanical seal installer tool. This is a two part tool as shown in the manual. Trying to figure out why one of the numbers is coming back invalid. Those are the numbers shown In the manual. Anyway, that's where I am so far. >From: Kevin Hawkins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: GTS-1000 Owners List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Hey Rick Davids... >Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 08:46:52 -0400 > >What's the latest on the water pump failure?
