YOU ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE !! Make sure your sprockets and chain match, or you are going to have a major problem very quickly. Do NOT ride with a mismatch like that.
If your sprockets are in good shape, then changing the 532 chain is the easiest to perform, but this is a very expensive chain (usually over $200). If you want to change to 530, then the chain is about $100-120, and the sprockets will add about $80-100 more. So you can go to a 530 for about the same cost as just the 532 chain. There used to be a strength difference, where the 532 was stronger, but 530's have greatly increased to the point that this is no longer a factor. The top of the line 530's are now stronger than whatever is still available on 532. Additionally, 532's were rarely used, and are no longer used on new bikes (to my knowledge). -----Original Message----- From: Doug.Wilson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 11:38 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: CHAIN I don't have any of the technical data on the difference between a 530 and a 532 chain, but I can tell you that I use a 120 link chain in the 530 size and 118 links in 532 given the same size sprockets(17f/47r). I suspect that you will chew your sprockets up in a hurry. At this point I think I'd get the 530 sprockets to match your new chain. If MAW can't help you, try the sprocket specialists website and get the ones for the 1993 FZR1000. -----Original Message----- From: Darren Wright [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 10:23 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: CHAIN Nope...still have my 532 sprockets. > -----Original Message----- > From: Burton, Bob [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 10:26 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: CHAIN > > > You replaced the sprockets as well right? I replaced a chain for a ride coming up this weekend, only to find that it is the wrong kind. I ordered a chain from MAW, and they sent me a 530, NOT a 532. It seems to fit ok, but makes a crapload of noise. Anyone know if it will survive or am I playing with fire? -Darren The information contained in this e-mail including any attachments may constitute Corvis Corporation Proprietary Information that is subject to Non-Disclosure Agreement and cannot be disclosed to any other party without the express consent of Corvis Corporation.
