I may have misinterpreted what was said but I never assumed Yamaha BUILT
all the bikes in 1994.  But if the 1999 is IDENTICAL to the 1994, then
in my mind it isn't a 1999, it's a 1994 built 5 years late.  Like 93 to
94, Yam modified the ECU, added the swing arm protector & maybe others.
Were there other changes?

This question really doesn't make sense if you think about it. Yamaha
only has so many production facilities and IF they made so many 94 GTS's
that they are still selling them new in 99, they would not have any
other models in their line up for 94. Common sense in the industry rules
out any possibility of pulling the old triumph trick of titling them in
whatever year they sold.
