There are rivet style master links. They do not use a clip at all. The side
plate is pressed on the pins then the pins are peened to form rivets that
hold the side plate secure. They are what is used on the modern superbikes
when the the factory endless chains are replaced. The downside is, they are a
pain to install if you do not have the proper tool. Sure, you can get it on
and rivet it safely without the proper tools, it is just going to take you
some time and cost you some aggravation. It is worth a phone call to a few
shops to see if you can get them to install it for a reasonable fee. They can
do it much quicker and probably better than it can be done at home.
