Hi, Just about to go to bed when I spotted Doug Longs' introductory message re joining the GTS clan.
Just to say I am also a new owner after a 10 year wait. I'm a Geordie located in sunny North Shields just outside Newcastle, and part of the balmy Toon Army. Play Kiev tomorrow. I acquired my GTS, blue 1995 model with 11,000 miles on the clock, in September and have put 300 tentative miles on it so far. Unlike Doug I went out in the 80/90 mile wind storm, or so it felt, on a shake down trip to Scotland. I must admit that if I had had sufficient funds with me I would have abandoned the bike in Berwick and got the train back. Somewhat hairy. In the short time I have had the machine I seem to have all the much discussed problems, rotten cat, surging, light switch throttle and clutch. That apart it's an impressive piece of kit, and after 20 years of Z650 use, very much a new experience. Being a 11 stone (sorry 154 lbs) wimp, I have got to admit it's more in charge of me at times than I am of it, and I am having difficulty getting it to go round corners. It seems to physically object to changing direction. No doubt it's my ancient style of riding and body lean may not be the way to crank it over quick enough. Accepting the above interesting problem, I am a very proud owner and look forward to using it to the full and educating other motorcyclists whose jaws drop when they see it. Regards Tom Thompson
