I've done some investigation into accomodation in Frisco for the rally. The rally will
be the weekend of June 21. Frisco was selected for its central location with respect
to the good roads in Colorado. It's also easy to get to, being just off I70.

I found this place called Sky-Vue Motel. (www.skyvuemotel.com) It's a 26 room, one
level motel, U-shaped layout with parking in the middle right in front of the rooms.
It is pretty basic but with clean servicable rooms and a pool/spa area. The rooms have
2 queen beds and can sleep up to 4 people. There's also floorspace. 10 of the rooms
have kitchen/cooking facilities. We can have the whole place to ourselves if we get it
booked quick enough. They said they have actually had the place booked out by a
Goldwing group a couple of times before. The rate will be between $59 and $65 per room
per night.

The location is excellent. It's right at the base of a sizeable mountain (good hiking
right there), towards the edge of the old part of town making it feel fairly private
but it's also only a couple minute walk to Main Street which has lots of cool
restaurants, cafes and a couple of fine drinking establishments. Main street has quite
the mountain town atmosphere.

If we run out of room at the motel, there is another neat little inn virtually next
door that is inexpensive and there are even more alternatives nearby. The motel
doesn't have any meeting rooms or areas where big groups can hang out but I'm sure I
can arrange one of the local establishements to accomodate us for a meal/function if
that what we want to do.

The alternatives I vistited were the Best Western and Holiday Inn. These are a bit
more luxurious and do have cushy areas where groups can hang out with couches and
fireplaces etc. They also have meeting rooms which you can rent and they can cater for
meals too. They also have a restaurant/bar. They are also reasonably priced. Best
Western group rates are $59 dollar rooms (2 queens), $69 rooms (3 queens) and $79
dollar rooms (King and pullout sofa suite). The Holiday Inn group rate is $64 (2
queens). The downside to these is that they are much bigger, 150+ room multistory
buildings and our babies (the GTS's) would feel rather lonely and neglected in the
parking area. They are also located on the new (boring) side of town that has no
character or action other than fast food restaurants and chain stores. It's too far to
walk to Main Street also.

Personally I vote for the Sky-Vue. What's the concensus?

Cheers Joe.
