Wasn't that the purpose of the warning light on the dash board--to let you
know that the ABS had faulted?  I don't recall a specification anywhere that
the fault must be only an electronic failure for the light to go on.  It
seems to me, that if the ABS light comes on, it should be telling me that
the ABS has faulted/failed, no matter WHICH part it is.  Of course we all
know that one of the major problems is that the ABS dashboard warning light
does NOT come on when there is a mechanical failure--just an electronic one.
