To all you grand negotiators: Here is the issue:
I am considering purchasing a Kawasaki ZX-6 for my wife. She is only 5' 3", a new rider, and this is the only sportbike I can find with a stock seat height less than 31". The GTS is too tall and too heavy for her to ride. (Choice #1) I've located a year 2000 model with 9600 miles on it for $4,300, which is $500 above KBB trade-in. This one appears to be in "good" shape but may have been ridden hard. (Choice #2) Now the dealer has an '02 with 1,600 miles on it for $6500. The KBB retail value for this bike is $6130 and the Trade-in value is $4400. I know I can offer any amount for the '02 but was trying to determine what price the dealer will bite at. I'm sure the dealer will point out that it is a "new" bike with just a few miles on it and I will quickly point out that it is technically a used bike. I was thinking about $6K out-the-door, which is approx $5500+ Governor's Cut and Licensing Fee. All comments on this are welcome. BTW, does anyone know of a source for Motorcycle Invoice Prices. It's easy to find these for autos but I've never seen them for motorcycles. Jeff B.
