Anything you can find out about who/how that 1600 miles was put on is
important. The first miles are the most critical to engine life - half
an hour of showing off for his buddies will pretty much trash a new
engine. Why do they have a year old bike with low miles? One thing if
a 50 year old found out his back can't take the crouch and another thing
if some 18 year old couldn't make the payments & insurance.

Subject: Purchasing Advise

To all you grand negotiators:

Here is the issue:

I am considering purchasing a Kawasaki ZX-6 for my wife. She is only 5'
3", a new rider, and this is the only sportbike I can find with a stock
seat height less than 31". The GTS is too tall and too heavy for her to
ride.

(Choice #1) I've located a year 2000 model with 9600 miles on it for
$4,300, which is $500 above KBB trade-in. This one appears to be in
"good" shape but may have been ridden hard.

(Choice #2) Now the dealer has an '02 with 1,600 miles on it for $6500.
The KBB retail value for this bike is $6130 and the Trade-in value is
$4400. I know I can offer any amount for the '02 but was trying to
determine what price the dealer will bite at. I'm sure the dealer will
point out that it is a "new" bike with just a few miles on it and I will
quickly point out that it is technically a used bike. I was thinking
about $6K out-the-door, which is approx $5500+ Governor's Cut and
Licensing Fee.

All comments on this are welcome. BTW, does anyone know of a source for
Motorcycle Invoice Prices. It's easy to find these for autos but I've
never seen them for motorcycles.
