Phil, The VFR bags are built by Givi to Honda specs (though I'm yet to see any on a new VFR in person). Not sure about the ST. Also Triumph uses Givi to build their bags as well. My issue with Kawasaki's new sport tourer is not the bags but the terrible heat that cooks your legs. Major issue on that bike unless you're riding in mid winter. Not sure who makes the bags for Aprilia and Ducati, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Givi makes them to the manufacturer's spec.
I'll be away from this email at the end of the day till after the first of the year so everyone keep it down to a dull roar (so I don't have too many emails when I get back) and have a Happy and safe Holiday...Bob B. -----Original Message----- From: Phil Benson [ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ] Sent: Friday, December 20, 2002 10:33 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: bags [was Re: falling prices] Actually, the early Kawasaki info I saw did acknowledge that they're GIVI. And that's the issue. GIVI bags are not factory bags, at least not in my opinion. The only part of the design that Kawasaki did was to strengthen the under-seat subframe (in comparison to the Ninja 12) to make the bags more stable. They also requested that GIVI paint the bags in matching silver. Yes, the dealer sells them and yes, the paint matches. But when I think of factory luggage I think of the ST (or the new VFR), anything from BMW, the Concours, and other such bikes. GIVIs have never impressed me as an adequate substitute, even if a lot of the folks on this list have them. Phil P.S. I know, I know, Krauser built the GTS bags. And even that has its problems, such as the fact that Yamaha won't sell you a key blank for one.
