Good points Rob. It's going to be almost impossible to keep such a big group
all together on the same ride anyway. The planned rides are only an option. I
imagine we'll eventually break up into groups. I'm hoping we all stay
together for at least the first part of the ride, at least getting some good
group photos at Independence pass. There will plenty of alternative options
for those not interested in doing the whole Saturday loop. You can have lunch
in Aspen and turn back from there (about 170 miles all up) or go on to do the
250-300 mile loop via I70. Of course in the unlikely event that it rains,
most of us will be looking for these options too.

I probably wouldn't be suggesting a 400 mile ride for a group like this
normally but believe me it's really worth it to ride the Black Canyon of the
Gunnison and stop at the Mad Dog Ranch. So if you think it's maybe just a tad
too far I'd recommend you do it anyway. Of course, I will be happy do do
whatever the majority vote for. That's why I'm asking for input.

I think we'll have plenty of time for socializing. Friday afternoon (for
some), Fri and Sat evenings and hopefully a long Sunday lunch at Thors,
Sunday evening (for some).

Judging by the responses so far I'm more convinced we do the short Sunday
ride and have a bit of a relaxing day. If anyone is really keen for more fun
it's very easy to fit in a couple more (or less) canyons that run between Hwy
119 and 93 in the same ride. Of course I will be around on Friday and
probably Monday if anyone is interested in more riding/touring.

Cheers Joe.

My main reason for coming to Frisco is to meet the many characters who are
only names to me on the GTS list, and it is the social part of the function
that I'm primarily looking forward to. Whilst the proposed rides are, I'm
sure, stunning, and will appeal to a lot of us, it seems that people may be
away for at least 10 hours. On return, I'm sure even the fittest iron butt
riders will want to shower and rest, and others will be quite
exhausted..particularly if it is wet! Personally, I'd prefer a much shorter
ride where one can view and socialise.
Maybe there are some others who share the view, and if so, can some even
shorter runs be planned?
My .02 for FWIW.
Regards,
Rob Chapman
