(He means paraffin...but he's an academic!!!!!!!!)...We call it kero in Oz, short for kerosene!! In France, it refers to medicinal paraffin, which we tried to obtain in a French pharmacist, for our little camping burner. We received incredulous looks that our stomachs were so bad that we needed a litre of medicinal paraffin!
