Just to add to make a correction of details: the particular computer was fresh-installed 16.04 LTR. Gufw has been working fine in another computer with an Ubuntu 16.04 LTR upgrade from 15.10. The problem there is reproducible. Gufw is off when the GUI app is started, but as soon as I turn on the gufw firewall switch, I confirm in Terminal that ufw becomes disabled. So superficially gufw is activated on GUI, but firewall becomes disabled. How ironic!!

After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, I installed gufw with python-gi and it was working fine, until the recent update of gufw. I've noticed that the new gufw lost the previous rules and not listening to the traffic even when I connected my local computers (so suggesting that firewall is not working). After removal (apt-get remove gufw), ufw can be re-enabled which then restores the previous rules. I think this may be a new bug introduced in the current gufw. I may need to do additional tests with gfw too, but I thought this is worth reporting.
