I do not think so; the current file is called IEEEtran.cls, and according to http://www.michaelshell.org/tex/ieeetran/ the first version dates from 1993 (so after fastcap) and was called IEEEtran.sty. But well, it looks like we can keep things as they are now, thanks for your commits! Andreas
