Hello all,

my impression is that the discussion has turned into an exchange between
two persons, which does not make it very representative of the
community...

As I understood, there has been some discussion about communication
during the Guix Days (I have not taken part in this group); and I assume
that more people than just one voiced a need for more or different types
of communication, as they are potentially brought by Zulip.

Personally I understood that the goal was to create a new "official"
channel, adopted by the Guix project and with the Guix CoC in place
(which also means that the CoC committee would have to be present in
this channel to potentially enforce the CoC) - this is why we are having
this discussion on the public Guix mailing list!

In this case we will eventually need a GCD, but my impression is that
it is maybe a bit too early for this. People raised valid concerns:
- Carlo about the bridging with our current channels, in particular
IRC and email, and the question which communications we might expect
  to move over time to the new channel;
- I about the problem of hosting.
This could be postponed to the GCD discussion period, but may as well
be considered beforehand, now that the reservations are out in the open.

So how about a few people interested in the matter work together to
study the different solutions (Zulip or others) and to try to find
answers to the problems raised so far, or that you imagine yourself?
This could then lead quite naturally to a GCD.

Andreas
