On my side, although I fully support the idea behind the document, the current GCD contains many small drawbacks that, once piled up, I’d have hard time to live with; never mind. When we discussed IRL, I initially thought that doing your usual magic would be enough. Today, taking into account all the comments, I don’t think anymore that polishing will be enough for clarifying all the feedback. For instance, I’m puzzled by your call to split the reading of the whole document, somehow, asking to skip the Motivation section and only consider the Detailed Design but then engage again and again about the Motivations, e.g., the sub-thread about “huge” ecological impact and carbon footprint – Is such effort worth the Detailed Design goal? What’s the concrete outcome after such effort? Removing the opinionated language – not the facts but their opinionated interpretations – from the Motivation section would help, IMHO, to indeed focus on the Detailed Design – bah I’d not repeat [1]. BTW, it would not be a full rewrite but only the rewording of the Motivation section in a way that it’s less confrontational and letting open the diversity of our understanding on the topic. And similarly, it’d not be a full rewrite of the Pledge but only a partial rewording. It’s by proposing alternative rewording that we can reach a mutual understanding, for what my opinion is worth. 2. The aim of the draft I wrote 3 weeks ago and privately shared with you, then publicly [2] shared 10 days ago, was – and still is – to help in reducing your workload. Somehow, it’s my way to help you with: Re “not modified since 20 days”, that’s because it’s become very hard for me to synthesize all the comments and come up with something that would address them. My draft is this attempt to synthesize all the comments and come up with something that would address them. It’s imperfect, sure, but a first basis for thinking about how to synthesize and address all the comments. In my view, it’s by providing partial articulated partial wordings – used for probing alternative wording – that we can converge toward something that might be accepted by the Deliberation Period.
