It's slightly off-topic, but since you already brought it up, I
figured you might find it interesting. All major dictionaries defines
"guys" as a gender neutral way of referring to people, e.g.:

Merriam-Webster
(https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/guys):

> guys : PERSON — used in plural to refer to the members of a group
> regardless of sex
> "saw her and the rest of the guys"

Cambridge Dictionary
(https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/guys):

> guys phrase [ plural ] mainly US
> used to address a group of people of either sex

Collins Dictionary
(https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/guys):

> guys in British English
> plural noun informal
> persons of either sex

Wiktionary
(https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/guys)

> guys
> plural of guy

(And I can't look at Oxford, because it's paywalled. How lame is
that?)

So, yeah, while not everyone is a "guy", everyone together is very
much "guys". Funny how language evolves, huh?
