GOAN HERITAGE NITE 2004 with FOREFRONT in KUWAIT
 
 

The second annual day celebrations "Goan Heritage Nite 2004" organized by the NRI Club.9 was a glittering success measured in terms of music, food, hip-hop, folklore, ethnicity, culture and traditions.  The exclusive decoration with illuminated Goan lanterns and other Goan ornamental objects evoked a sense of nostalgia and made the ambience beautiful and memorable.  
 











 
 
 
 










The guests who thronged the venue exchanged greetings and smiles while swining to the vivacious sounds of music from Kuwait's STEPPING STONES and Goa's FOREFRONT. 













 
 
 
 












 
 
 
 











STEPPING STONTES unfurled the celebrations with soft pleasant music and then amplified the rhythm to reach the crescendo as the guests applauded in cheerfulness.  India's renowned and Goa's best, by every breath, FOREFRONT, then blasted the guests into an orbit of delirium with pop, rap, reggae, ballroom, soul, indipop in trendy showmanship, with their Afro-Asian singer AGATHA JILUGO taking the center stage.   
 

Impressive displays were the Goan Dekhni, Mandos, and Dulpods choreographed by Karmen Meneses.  A bouquet of flowers was presented to welcome Vivek Araujo, a Goan dancer based in Uganda, who was flown specially to perform at the 'Goan Heritage Nite 2004'.  












A Konkani ode "Sobit Goa" in praise of beautiful Goa was sung in perfect choral harmony by the talented Faustino Menezes and Frank Camilo.   The highlight of the evening was the 'Goan Heritage Special' - a splendid spectacle that was limited to a grand waltz, foxtrot and cha-cha-cha in which three couples were declared winners judged by Agatha Jilugo, Seby Pinto and Fr. Valmiki Dias.
 

In his welcome address, NRI Club.9 President Albano Pinto greeted and thanked the chief guest, Ram Rattan - First Secretary (Consular), Embassy of India; the guest-of-honour Fr. Valmiki Dias - Director, Daddy's Home, Goa; the main sponsor Nouri Al Nouri, and a very special guest of the evening, Saeed Dashti - Chairman & Managing Director of Kuwait & Gulf Link Co. (KGL).
 











 
 
 
 












 
 
 
 










Ram Ratan lauded the intensive efforts of the NRI Club.9 to bring solace and support to the mentally challenged children at the Daddy's Home in Goa.  An audio visual presentation of the rehabilitation activites undertaken at Daddy's Home was projected by Fr. Valmiki Dias.  
 
A galore of fabulous gifts, prizes and suprises took the guests by storm along with a lavish buffet dinner that including Goan dishes and specialities like sorpotel, xacuti, caldin, shrimp curry, fish balchao, bombils, etc. and Goan sweets like pinagr, bebinca, doce, etc.
 













 
 
 
 










Lloyd D'Souza held the guests spellbound with wit and humour in his own inimitable style.  
 
In all, the Goan Heritage Nite 2004 was a well organized event and all praise go to the terrific FOREFRONT who had to fly back to Goa to perform at the inaugural ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
