Entertainment Society of Goa Supports 'SHWAAS Foundation' with a Donation of Rupees Twenty-One Lakhs

At the 35th International Film Festival of India, Hon. Chief Minister of Goa and Chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar today handed over a cheque of Rupees Twenty-One Lakhs to Mr. Arun Nalavade, Producer - SHWAAS as donation to SHWAAS Foundation. The donation is aimed at supporting and promoting the screening of SHWAAS that has been nominated for the 77th Academy Award across the globe.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Chief Minister and Chairman, Entertainment Society of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar said, �It is our privilege and honor to support SHWAAS Foundation that has done such a remarkable job in positively highlighting the preciousness and beauty of Life in a no win situation to a life threatening disease such as Cancer.
Expressing his delight, Mr. Arun Nalavade, Producer of SHWAAS said, �With the support and gratitude of Entertainment Society of
Goa and Hon. Chief Minister, Mr. Manokar Parrikar, we can now spread the message of Hope to patients suffering from Cancer across the globe with the screening of 'SHWAAS' through important International Film Festivals.�
The story of SHWAAS revolves around the positive efforts taken by an old man towards and his grandson is showing the preciousness and beauty of life in a no win situation such as cancer.
SHWAAS has bagged in all 31 different awards for excellence in film, for the year 2004. This includes the national award for Best Indian Film, which is the 'Golden Lotus Award'. The Film Federation of India as India's official entry has also selected SHWAAS for the 77th Academy Awards.
About IFFI
The 35th International Film Festival of India is organized by the Entertainment Society of Goa, found and registered by the Government of Goa. The Chairman of this Society is the Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar and Vice-Chairman is Power Minister

The century old GMC building in Panaji has been made the administrative headquarter of IFFI - Goa 2004 and the Old Goa Medical College building is the main venue of IFFI 2004 - the Kala Academy. The opening ceremony took place at The Dinanath Mangeshkar auditorium in this complex on 29th November 2004 and closing ceremonies of IFFI 2004 will be at the same venue. The auditorium has seating capacity of 975 seats. It houses the media centre, press conference room, an art gallery, two amphi theatres,etc.
A wide array of events viz., beach screenings, live music shows, animating the newly constructed promenade next to River Mandovi with Stilt walkers, fire eaters, jazz shows, palmists, kite festival, vintage car rally, etc., have been planned around the film festival that would give a festive look to Panaji City.
