St Xavier�s feast today

Panaji Dec 2: The feast of St Francis Xavier will be celebrated at Old Goa tomorrow. The Apostolic Nuncio to India, Reverend Pedro Lopez Quintana, will preside over the solemn pontifical mass of the feast at 10.30 a.m.
Coming on the 16th dicennial exposition of the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier, the feast high mass will be celebrated by an assembly of high-ranking clergy including the Archbishop-Patriarch Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao, Archbishop-Patriarch Emeritus Rev Raul Gonsalves, Papal Nuncio in South Africa, Rev Archbishop Blasco Colaco, Bishop of Meerut, Rev Patrick Nair and Auxillary Bishop Emeritus of Brussels, Rev Luk De Hovre.
Masses on the feast day will start at 4 a.m followed by 5 other masses every hour till 9.30 a.m. Three masses will be celebrated in the evening every hour beginning at 4 p.m. The last mass will be in English.
From December 4 to December 23, 2004, the organisation of the masses will be taken up by the Mission of Daman and all the 18 Deaneries of Goa in this order respectively: Aldona, Benaulim, Bicholim, Canacona, Chinchinim, Goa Velha, Mapusa, Margao, Mormugao, Old Goa, Panaji, Pernem, Ponda, Quepem, Sanguem, Siolim, Verna and Calangute.
Before the Solemn Mass the Apostolic Nuncio will visit the �Pavlam�, a cluster of paintings, �Bridging the Gaps through the Gospel� and other exhibitions and a film Upside Down at the Archiepiscopal Palace behind the Se Cathedral and thereafter the art and photo galleries at Bom Jesus.
