Panaji Sept 5: The Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsing Rane today said that his government plans introducing multi-purpose cards for Goans which could be used for various purposes, including availing medical facilities at Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim.
Mr Rane disclosed about this plan while replying to a question on Panaji Doordarshans phone-in-programme this evening. Mr Rane said there were many people from neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, who were also visiting the GMC and under such circumstances the government could not provide free medication to everyone.
However, he said that the government was committed in providing free medicine and other facilities to the Goans and the multi-purpose cards would help the people to avail several documents with ease. Stating that the multi-purpose cards would have a chip, which would contain the detailed bio-data of the card holder, Mr Rane said the cards would be beneficial to all the Goans.
