In the day long tournament, the main goalkeeper of Navelim Godwin Pinto and their key striker Cyril Barreto could not take the field in the finals due to injuries giving Vasco an advantage over their rivals. However, Navelim played a defensive game to hold Vasco goal less till the end of regulation time. In the penalty shoot-out Melroy Rebello and Stephen Fernandes shot wide for Navelim while Henry Fernandes kick was stopped by Vasco goalkeeper Joao Baptista. Evan Sequiera and Joao Baptista scored for Vasco while goalkeeper of Navelim foiled the attempt of Edward Sequiera.
Earlier in the quarter finals Navelim hammered Cansaulim 5 - 0 and all the other results in the knockout stage were decided on penalty kicks with matches ending goal less. Navelim defeated St. Rock Verna 3 - 1 to enter the finals. Vasco got the better of Tivim 4 - 3 in the quarters and dislodged Canacona 2 -1 in the semis. Cyril Garage and NHSC were the other teams that took part in the tournament. Cansaulim bagged the fair play trophy and the player of the tournament prize went to Joaquim Fernandes of Verna. The officials Sadanand Naik, Joy Corda and Vincent D'Costa were presented with mementos.
During the tournament Bahrain Goans felicitated Seby Fernandes for his contribution to football and presented him with a plaque. Seby Fernandes, a former senior division player of Mumbai has been on the island for 26 years and continues to play football till today. He was a leading footballer of the now defunct Bahrain Expatriate Football League and played for Goans for most of the years. He also presided over the finals and gave away the prizes in this seven-a-side tournament organised by Bahrain Goans.
