This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. With a slight delay, old vehicles appear
at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de/GURPSnet_files/summary.html

KR-1 Truck Train v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL9)
  Copyright 2006 by Onno Meyer

Vehicles like the Truck Train can be found on worlds without a proper
rail net. Under computer control, Truck Trains can form a convoy with a
human driver only in the first truck of each road train. Alternatively,
several trucks with their own drivers can trade shifts on long trips.
Each unit is a 12x8 flatbed truck with a cab in front and a Series 4A
container (or several smaller containers) in the back. It is powered by
a 400-kW isotope battery which lasts for more than a decade. The Truck
Train is fitted for moderately inhospitable worlds, with air filtration
but no proper airlock.

Design Notes
Body is 2,400 cf. Wheels are 600 cf (increased volume). Structure is
heavy and very cheap. Armor is standard metal. Sealed. Electronic
controls. There are 90.76 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 22,000 lbs.
The TL9 vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules
affect the background but not the technology of this design.

Next Week: Probably yet another Traveller liner.
